This board was brought back from a friends ranch in Wyoming.
Custom made by us- the banana.VAN.adventures crew Dan & Rachel. We make and design in small sets to ensure the grain gets that maximum look for you and your use. Dan previously owned, not only a landscaping and handyman business, but a custom woodworking company as well. He made products ranging from cabinets to restaurant tables and has transferred those skills into everyday useful items for all homes! We know everyone needs to eat, so why not enjoy making meals using nice quality products and supporting a couple who is on the road to do good as they go.
You may be surprised to learn that these items are all natural wood color! All that we added was a commercial grade butcher block conditioner of mineral oil, beeswax and carnauba wax to enhance the natural color AND protect the wood.
Each board has been taken from the rough lumber state to planing to reveal the grain, to designing the pairing with other woods, milling to size, replaning, to routing the edges, sanding then branding and one last final sanding before oiling and waxing.
We use a waterproof glue, but please note: that’s NOT to say leave it standing in water or throw it in the dishwasher because, at the end of the day, it's still wood and it is not really intended to be in the stress of constant high pressure water or sitting in a soapy sink.
Speaking of soapy water... Clean at your comfort level. Dan prefers to only use water with the occasional lemon and salt to clean the board but Rachel on the other hand is always a soap cleaner. Both work just keep in mind soap is designed to remove oil and wax and those are also the very items that are aiding the protection of all wooden items in your kitchen. So clean to the level you feel is the best approach.
